Hickory Christian School
About Us
At Hickory Christian School we strive to give your child the very best education they can receive on a number of levels. It is our belief that every child entrusted to us should be cared for as if they were our own children. That is why we seek to see each student grow in a loving and nurturing environment that will help develop every area of his or her life as they learn through play, classroom teaching, activities and special learning experiences. Early childhood education has proven to be the foundation for mental and emotional development in a child’s life. Those who are not given this early base of skills and support tend to fall behind later in life, and that is why we assure each child the personal attention needed in order to grasp the concepts that will prove to be pivotal to a successful future in school and in life.
2. HCS provides a Faith based education along with the best academic and grade sensitive materials available. All our materials are up to date and are at or above State guidelines.
3. HCS’s curriculum is integrated; we use the same teaching fundamentals from PreK3’s through First grade and above. We start with the basics of each subject and build an understanding of how that information is used throughout our lives. Math does not stand alone nor does reading or science; our students learn why what we are learning is important and how it is used.
4. HCS is a private school and does not receive any money from the Federal or State Government. This means that we have the ability to teach what classes we feel will challenge our students and do not have to teach classes that are contrary to our beliefs.
5. HCS teaches strong Family Values, the love of God and appreciation for the history of our great Country.
6. HCS encourages parents to be part of the education process. Students learn best when parents are involved nightly in review of the work sent home that day.
7. HCS stresses respect and good behavior and it is expected in and outside of the classroom at all times.
8. HCS has limited size classes so that the teacher can give individual attention to each student when it is necessary.
9. HCS provides safe, loving and cheerful classrooms where children have an opportunity to develop the necessary foundation and skills that are needed to achieve academic success.
10. HCS has the ability to secure the necessary help for any student that has a need for vision, speech, hearing, occupational therapy or physical therapy.
11. HCS students have Christian Studies, Music, Science, Art, Library and Gym in addition to their academic classes. Each class is age appropriate in all of their activities.
12. HCS has a wonderful reputation and it has been said that we are the “best kept secret in our area” by educators from other schools. Our Administration, Teachers and Staff will work to see that HCS grows to fit the need of our community providing the best education build on the principles of God not of man.
